Airbus scandal: Amidu insinuates that John Mahama is ‘Government Official 1’

Martin Amidu, Special Prosecutor

Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has insinuated that the unidentified ‘Government Official 1’ cited in Airbus bribery scandal is former President John Mahama.

“…the elected Government Official 1 allegedly granted a denial interview to the Daily Graphic which published same on 20 June 2020, fortunately, containing suspected admissions that he is the elected Government Official 1 referred to in the UK judgement,” Mr Amidu’s statement said.

Mr Amidu did not mention John Mahama’s name directly in the press release on Friday, 24th July 2020 but gives a hint by referring to a publication in the Daily Graphic.

Former President John Mahama first broke his silence on the Airbus scandal in a Daily Graphic publication, rejecting allegations of wrongdoing in the purchase of the two Airbus aircraft for the Ghana Armed Forces. That publication was made on the date stated on 20th June 2020.
