The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on 14th August 2020 cut the sod for reconstruction works to begin on the dualization of the Accra-Tema beach road.
The estimated cost of the 26.6 km project is $100 million. The project is expected to be completed in 24 months and is being undertaken by Messrs Gansu International Corporation and Messrs China Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited.
Dr Bawumia says the reconstruction is to dualize the Accra-Tema beach road and the construction of a three-tier interchange at Nungua barrier to address congestion on that road.
Explaining further Bawumia says “currently, there are four other interchanges that we are constructing in Tema (completed) Pokuase (75% complete) Tamale (44% complete) and Obestibi Lamptey circle (55% complete).
The $100m Accra -Tema beach road project is expected to be completed in 24 months.
The construction of this road and many others across the country affirm the commitment of President Akufo-Addo to massively improve road networks in the country.”
