Communication CST to be reduced from 9% to 5% – Ofori-Atta

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta presenting the 2020 Mid-Year budget review say the government will reduce CST tax rate to 5%

Currently, the communication service tax rate is 9%. 

“In the short term, Mr Speaker, we will reduce the communication sales CST from 9% to 5% to reduce the cost of communication service to the consumer,” he stated.

He further noted that more people work remotely and utilize online services. 

“We will count on the telecom services to match this reduction in the CST while reducing their tariffs,” he added.

Mr Ofori-Atta also stated that it is important for the youth and entrepreneur.
