IVORIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION ELECTIONS: Didier Drogba gets zero votes from ex-players

Candidate for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Didier Drogba will not benet from the support of his former colleagues. Meeting on Thursday, the Union of former footballers of Côte d’Ivoire (UAFCI) has indeed chosen another candidate, Sory Diabaté, the current vice-president of the FIF

“The choice fell on the candidate Sory Diabaté “, confirmed the vice-president of the UAFCI,
Ibrahim Koné, near the Ivorian Press Agency.

In the absence of President Alain Gouaméné, currently conned to France, 14 members voted, including 11 in favour of Sory Diabaté, against three abstentions. This choice is debating in the country.

“They sold their souls to the devil”

The Association of former Football players under the leadership of Koné Ibrahim has chosen to sponsor the candidate Sory Diabaté.

At the end of a voting parody, Koné Ibrahim and former footballers, recently appointed to the National Technical Directorate, sold their souls to the devil, for example, lambasted journalist Choilio Diomandé in a column on Opera News. A reference in particular to Didier Zokora, who took part in the vote and who had recently been appointed.

Remember that this support is important since the UAFCI represents an interest group.
However, according to the statutes of the FIF, each candidate for the presidential election must obtain the sponsorship of an interest group for his candidacy to be validated.

Drogba, therefore, hopes to have more luck with the 4 remaining interest groups: the Association of Ivorian Footballers (AFI) in activity, referees, coaches or sports doctors.

Voters: Abdoulaye Traoré, Oumar Ben Salah, Aka Kouamé Basile, Soro Jean, Zézéto, Zokora Didier, Koné Ibrahim, Badra Siby Aliou, Youssouf Fofana, Beugré Yago Eugène, Didier Otokoré, Fadel Keita and Kassi Kouadio Lucien.
