The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has inaugurated ten (10) member committee on School reopening.
The announcement was made through a Press release dated 19th August 2020 and signed by the Press Secretary to the Minister, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng.
“The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh today inaugurated a ten (10) member committee in Accra to deliberate and advise on modalities for the re-opening of schools in the pro-tertiary subsector for the approval of the President,” the release states.
The statement says this follows the address to the Nation on 16th August 2020 which includes government institution to consider the re-opening of schools following the shutdown in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Minister charged the committee to bring their experience and expertise to bear in ensuring consultation with all stakeholders on the way forward on all the relevant issue,” the press added.
The committee is said to be charged by Prof. Dominic Fobih, a former Minister of Education and currently the chairman of GETFund Board of Trustees and comprises the following:
- Ministry of Education
- The Ghana Education Service
- Private School Sector
The committee according to the release is to report to the Minister on Monday, 21st September 2020 with recommendations.
