Money spent on registration exercise Could be used for infrastructure – NDC

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)

Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says the money spent on the voter’s registration exercise could have been used for infrastructure.

Hon Ankrah says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said the voter’s register has bloated the reason for the voter’s registration exercise which they wasted One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000) which is One Billion Ghana Cedis (¢1,000,000,000).

This amount he says can build Five Thousand (5,000) schools of Six (6) classroom blocks each for Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (¢200,000).

He further stated that this same money could have constructed double asphalt road from Accra to Techiman which is over 600 kilometres but NPP wasted that money claiming the figures were too much.

“When you compare the figures generated from the new voter’s register to the old figures the difference is small, therefore, there was no need for a new voter’s register,” Mr Ankrah said.
